Why SecurityNet Is Desktop-Only

Smartphones are incredibly powerful, but they’re also some of the most invasive devices most people own. Every second they’re on, they quietly collect, transmit, and share data — often without your knowledge or consent.

Location tracking: Your phone can reveal information about your location even when location services are “off.”
Metadata exposure: Even “end-to-end encrypted” apps on mobile devices can still reveal who you contact, when, and how often — information that may be visible to network operators, operating systems, or other infrastructure. SecurityNet itself does not collect or store communication metadata.
App surveillance: Many apps track behaviour far beyond messaging — including contacts, usage patterns, browsing habits, and even nearby devices.
Cloud syncing: Messages and attachments are often copied to cloud servers you don’t control.
OS-level data collection: iOS and Android collect telemetry, analytics, and usage data — and share it with manufacturers and third parties.

The result: even if a message is encrypted, the environment it’s sent from isn’t. A determined attacker — or even a commercial data broker — can piece together an astonishing amount of information simply from the data your phone constantly emits.
